I wasn't expecting Via to open up so much in part 2. She gave the perspective of a outside person who sees Auggie for the first time. I can see how spending a summer away could do that. I felt a bit bag for her because it seems like maybe due to Auggie's condition she sometimes is overlooked. Author requires quiet a bit attention from his mom and dad. Mom is very worried about Auggie. Dad makes excuses for her with Via (pg.97)
I couldn't believe Sunmer sat with Auggie because she felt sorry for him. I really wanted to believe it was just because she was a nice person. However I love that she genuinely wants to be his friend. Summer is very honest when she discusses Auggie's appearance.
I wasn't too suprised to hear about Mr. Tushman setting up the children to befriend Auggie. Mr. Tushman reached out Auggie went to check the school location. I am glad Jack apologize to Auggie. Agreeing with Ariel it is fascinating how the author shows you the character of each person, not just tell you.
My questions for today:
How did you feel when you read about? Did you feel suprised at how she feels?
I want to agree with what you and Ariel said. I was very surprised at how much she opened up in this chapter. I feel like the purpose of Part 2 was to give Via some type of "attention" or give her the place that she feels she deserves or should be given. I felt bad when she was saying that she did everything on her own from homework to being at the games alone. It reminded me of myself a bit because I feel like I have gone through a lot of things alone. Part 2 was actually very interesting to me.
